ABOUT REFLEXOLOGY

Healing the body by massaging the feet is an ancient art that dates back to a variety of cultures, the earliest evidence of foot massage was discovered in Egypt in a tomb which dates back to approximately 2330BC.  The ancient Chinese worked the hand and feet to help maintain good health and prevent disease. As well as being found in ancient Egypt and China, the importance of massaging the hands and feet to ensure good health was passed down through the oral traditions of the Native American and African tribes.

Reflexology is a non -invasive therapy that encourages the body to balance and heal itself. A reflexologist will use various techniques applying pressure to specific areas/points on the foot or hand.  These specific points are called ‘reflexes’ and they reflect or mirror the body’s structure and organs.  Reflexology reduces stress by creating a deep relaxation, a sense of balance and well-being, allowing the body to function more efficiently by opening and clearing of neural pathways, helping the body to return to its natural rhythms.

I also incorporate the 5 Elements Reflexology (which integratesTraditional Chinese medical theory into reflexology) into my practice (currently training), therefore I work the needed acupressure points, as well as the reflexes in the hands or/and feet to create flow and balance.

The benefits of Reflexology are:

  • Rebalances and relaxes body and mind

  • Increases circulation

  • Increases energy levels

  • Promotes self -healing

  • Reduces stress

  • Reduces anxiety and tension

  • Improves mood

  • Overall better health and wellbeing

  • Calms the nervous system

A full consultation and medical history are taken during the first appointment. You will only need to remove shoes and socks before lying on a warmed couch.

Each session will be bespoke to you and your reason for treatment.

Most people leave a session deeply relaxed in an inner state of calm.
